Beginner Sewing Machines

Greetings!

I get excited when someone tells me they took a sewing class and enjoyed it.  It means that person will be getting inspired and will be creating.  I love it!  This happened recently to Jessica.  Jessica followed up asking me what sewing machines would be a good investment to start with, especially for garment sewing and alterations.  Here is a great starter sewing machine.

  1. Brother Sewing and Quilting Machine, CS6000i, 60 Built-In Stitches, 7 styles of 1-Step Auto-Size Buttonholes, Wide Table, Hard Cover, LCD Display and Auto Needle Threader

I have this sewing machine as my emergency back up.  I like it because it is lightweight and portable in case I need to take it on-the-go.  It also has fun built-in stitches.

I love my Bernina Artista 640 which is now discontinued.  But at the time I purchased it, I spent about $3K on it.  When you are ready to take on more serious projects, I highly recommend a Bernina.  It’s very durable and the engine runs smooth.  Feel free to check out more Berninas on their website:  https://www.bernina.com/en-US/Home-United-States

I hope this helps you Jessica and those exploring sewing machines.  Feel free to ask me any questions.  Remember, I highly recommend reading the reviews.

Here are my favorite scissors I work with:

Have a wonderful Labor Day!
