After finding your wedding gown, the hair accessory is one of the most defining aspects of your bridal appearance. You need to consider how it will work with your dress, face shape, body shape, hairstyle and wedding location.
An option for Brides today is to wear a traditional veil for the ceremony and change into a birdcage veil for the reception. Below you will find tutorials for both the traditional veil & the Birdcage veils. I hope this will spark some inspiration and give you a better idea of how to choose your hair accessory.
TRADITIONAL VEIL : The following factors need to be considered when you choose your veil: (1)length, (2)width, (3) tiers, (4) color, (5) edge/embellishments
–(2) WIDTH: Veils typically come in three different widths that create varying degrees of fullness at the sides and top.
*54 inches -this has limited fullness at the top and sides. This will be sheer enough to show off the dress details
*72 inches -this veil is moderate in height and width
*108 inches -this veil is the widest and has the most fullness
–(3) TIERS: You can choose between a one, two and three tier veil. The choice is largely dependent on the style of your dress. One of the tiers is typically a blusher. This is the part of the veil that is used to cover the brides face during the start of the ceremony. Today’s bride is free to choose whether she wants a veil that covers her face or not.
–(4) COLORS : Your veil should match your wedding gown. The colors normally available are white, ivory, diamond white. There are colored options as well.
–(5)EDGE/EMBELLISHMENTS: A veil can be finished in a variety of ways. The finishing touches should be selected depending on the style of your dress. Here are some options:
*decorative edge – simple (cut), ribbons, cording, pencil (rolled), lace
*embellishments – rhinestones, pearls
